Six states later (Idaho, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma) we finally made it here safe and sound. The funnest part about our trip is that Grandma Kaye got to tag along. We drove first to Farmington, NM and stayed the night (12 hours of driving). Next, we went onto Amarillo, TX (6 hours) and stayed the night. Finally, Fort Sill, OK (5 hours) where we will be staying until May.
Our apartment/hotel room is nice and cozy. The girls have a room, we have a room, the kitchen has two mini fridges (but not an oven), the living room has a hide-a-bed, and the bathroom only has a shower. This has made bath time interesting. Meg and Cali aren't fans of showers so they bathe in a small tupperware. Fun Fun Fun!!!
The base has its own Commisary (grocery store), PX (Wal-Mart type store), food court, library, gas stations, play grounds, and schools. Meg and her friend Keyton Reddish started pre-school last week. They think they are big-stuff going to pre-school at a real elementary school with recess and a library.
This has been our first big "army" experience as a family. So far, so good. It was hard to leave our friends and family behind until May, but it would have been harder to live without Jared for that long.
Yes! I am so proud of you for updating your blog! And so proud of myself for finding your blog without the address! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures of your "barracks". No oven? Um . . . how are you going to cook? I also love it that you tagged along with Jared instead of missing him for five months--that's what we would've done, too.
We missed you so much at book club. SO. MUCH.
Love ya,
Becca
